Visualising the future with NEMO Kennislink

We’ve been (visually) co-creating the future together with NEMO Kennislink since 2018.

What do future smart cities look like?

In 2019, we ran co-creation sessions at Expeditie NEXT in Rotterdam, the NEMO Science Museum’s rooftop in Amsterdam and events in both Nijmegen and Utrecht. Together with the team of NEMO Kennislink and the Rathenau Instituut, we gathered insights from Dutch citizens to better understand how they perceive a smart city and the application of Artificial Intelligence in it.

With a team of NextGenners’ visual facilitators, we asked investigative questions about the opportunities and challenges of smart cities - and through conversations and visualisation, envisioned the future together. During each conversation, we created a drawing of their future smart city.

We delivered a book of future visions for smart cities. It was packed with common topics for the future, patterns, insights, as well as key challenges and opportunities.

How does society feel about ethical topics such as animal donor organs…

NEMO Kennislink wanted to understand how society as a whole thinks about this ethical topic. By talking to pig farmers at an annual pork expo (2021), we gathered insights on their challenges as well as their vision of the future. Together with the farmers, we visualised various scenarios.

We once again summarised all insights and delivered these to NEMO Kennislink, so that they can integrate the knowledge into research reports.
